How to use lavender essential oil for burns

Apply neat to burn area

One way is to apply lavender oil 'neat', which means directly to the burn area without any dilution. Do this 2-3 times daily until the burn has healed completely-this works really well on small areas.

Lavender oil spray

Make your own spray by adding 10 drops of lavender essential oil to 1 cup of distilled water. Place in a spray bottle, shake well to combine and spray on the burn area of your skin.

Lavender oil and aloe

Add about 10 drops of lavender oil to approx. 1/2 cup fresh aloe gel from your plant, or some store-bought aloe gel. Apply this mixture to your burn. If necessary, apply every couple of hours if needed to reduce pain - lavender and aloe make a wonderful healing combination. If you need a dressing on your burn, apply a few drops of lavender oil onto a sterile gauze patch and cover, changing the dressing every few hours. Always be careful of infection when it comes to burns, lavender oil contains natural antibiotic qualities-another great reason to choose lavender oil for treating burns at home. If your burn is not healing properly, always seek advice from your health care professional as further medical treatment may be required
